What pool equipment & chemicals actually involves
The order matters more than the products. Total alkalinity is corrected before pH, because alkalinity is what stops pH bouncing; pH is corrected before chlorine, because chlorine in high-pH water does a fraction of the work it should; and stabiliser is checked before anyone concludes the chlorine is disappearing. Get that sequence wrong and you can empty a bucket of chlorine into a pool that was never short of it.
On equipment, sizing is where most money is lost. An oversized pump costs more to run every single day for its whole life and does not clean the pool any better — turnover is a function of run time, not brute force. An undersized filter, on the other hand, never quite keeps up, and the owner spends years compensating with chemicals. We will tell you what your pool actually needs, which is sometimes less than what is in the trolley.

Which chemicals does a pool actually need?
For most pools: a sanitiser (chlorine or a salt system), something to adjust pH, something to adjust total alkalinity, stabiliser to stop sunlight destroying the chlorine, and occasionally an algaecide or a flocculant. Everything beyond that is situational.

Can you advise on a pump or filter without selling me one?
