Pool renovations in Gqeberha (Port Elizabeth)

There is a point where no amount of chemical fixes a pool — the surface is chalky, the grout has gone, the coping is lifting and it simply looks tired. That is a renovation, and it is usually a smaller job than people fear.

What pool renovations actually involves

Most renovations start with the surface. Marbelite chalks and stains with age, and once it is porous it holds algae in the pores where brushing cannot reach — which is why an old pool seems to need more chemicals every season. Resurfacing gives you back a sealed, smooth interior, and it is the single change that makes the biggest visual difference.

After that it is the details that date a pool: a cracked or missing waterline tile band, grout washed out of the joints, coping stones that have lifted or been chipped, and paving that has settled. Retiling the waterline and re-setting the coping usually costs a fraction of resurfacing and lifts the whole thing. Lighting is the other quiet upgrade — modern LED changes how the pool looks from the house at night more than anything else you can do for the money.

We also handle the parts that are not decorative: replacing tired pumps and filters as part of the job, sorting out plumbing that was never right, repairing decking and structural work, and fitting or replacing ladders, slides, diving boards and guard stands. No repair or renovation job is too small or too large — from a single cracked tile to a complete overhaul.

How it works

What happens when you call us

  1. 1

A look and a proper quote

We see the pool, discuss what you want out of it, and quote the work in stages so you can decide what happens now and what waits.

  2. 2

    Prepare and repair

Drain, strip back, and fix the structure and plumbing before anything cosmetic goes on — finishes applied over unfixed problems do not last.

  3. 3

    Finish

Resurfacing, retiling, coping, paving, decking and lighting, in that order.

  4. 4

    Fill, balance and hand over

The pool is refilled, balanced and running properly before we call it done.

Questions

Pool Renovations, answered

How long does a pool renovation take?

It depends entirely on scope. A waterline retile is a short job; a full resurface with coping, paving and new equipment runs into weeks, largely because surfaces need curing time. We give you a realistic timeline with the quote rather than an optimistic one.

Can you renovate without replacing everything?

Usually, yes — and we will say so. Plenty of tired-looking pools need a resurface and a waterline band and nothing else. We quote in stages so you can see what each part buys you.

Do you handle the decking and paving too?

Yes. Structure, plumbing, decking, electrical, filtration and pump equipment are all in scope, along with ladders, slides, diving boards and guard stands.
